Leaving Nhulunbuy It was an easy day flying with light tailwinds, & blue skies. It was only a short leg today from Nhulunbuy to Darwin, with a short stop in Maningrida to refuel & have lunch. It was hot! I definitely needed my sweat in a bottle (water spray bottle) today!

We spent last night & our rest day in Arnhem Village, part of Gove Operations Pacific Aluminium (Rio Tinto). The disabled rooms they provided were great with large bathrooms & fairly easy access around the site. And the food is really good – so much variety & quantity – I keep overeating!

After the highlight of meeting the Burketown State School kids yesterday, it was time to get going this morning as we had a long day of flying ahead of us. Leaving Ingham Woohoo! We finally got out of Ingham! Very nice people but we just wanted to get going on our trip around Australia. The weather this morning looked better, the cloud was a little higher than other days, which gave us some confidence that we just might be able to get out!

I thought the weather was looking fairly promising when I rolled out of the motel room & looked at the sky toward the west. By the time we got packed up & down at the airfield at 9.30 am, the blue sky I’d seen previously had now been replaced by grey.
