With all the preparations last week & everything being so hectic, it was great to have a day in which I could sleep in & catch up on much needed sleep. Linda & I have been so exhausted with getting everything ready for the trip.
The accommodation donated by ParaQuad Association of Tasmania was great & so wheelchair friendly with the biggest bathroom I’ve ever seen & awesome heaters – so glad about that! We stayed at the Glenn Moore Apartments.
Today we attended the launch of Wheelies Van Rentals in Tassie. What a great initiative! This will enable people with physical limitations to get around and see Tassie. ParaQuad Tasmania worked in partnership with Wheelie’s Van Rentals to bring this service to Tasmania. We met with the Minister for Human Services, Cassy O’Connor, and the Minister for Tourism, Scott Bacon, who attended for the launch.
With a rest day, I had the chance to be interviewed for radio stations in SA and QLD. I also got the chance to catch up on some emails & facebook. Thanks so much for all the support. Linda was busy sending photos & info to newspapers, arranging my interviews & getting in touch with the supportive people who will be helping us with accommodation & transport at our next stops.
Thanks so much to the OWC support team as while I was keeping warm inside, Michael, Bob & Paul attended to the planes, refuelling & checking them out, while it was raining & bitterly cold – there was even snow on the mountains! They also got the opportunity to go into the Cambridge tower & chatted to the controllers about the flight route out of Cambridge. Gordon & Lida prepared an awesome dinner for us.
My mum & dad, Brian & Roberta, helped us out heaps while in Tas. Linda just wishes she could go to MONA – but that will have to wait for a holiday.
That’s it, it’s a short blog tonight but need to catch up on sleep.
Over & out,
